January Salem School Newsletter

Enrollment for 2023-2024

Returning school families enrollment will open for the 2024-2025 school year the week of January 8th. We are using a new system next year called Gradelink and a tuition payment system called PaySimple. Since we are using a new system we are taking the opportunity to make sure all of the information we have for your family is up-to-date and accurate. Please watch for a link to be sent through email the first week back after Christmas break to allow you to enroll your children in the new system.

New families may begin enrolling on February 1st.

Mr. Klatt’s Divine Call

Mr. Klatt returned the call to serve as Principal at Wisconsin Lutheran School in Racine, WI. We are so thankful that Mr. Klatt and his family will continue to be with us and serve here at Salem!

Mr. and Mrs. Stob Receive a Divine Call

The Stobs received a call to Divine Savior in Delray Beach, FL. Mr. Stob has been called to teach 8th grade and Mrs. Stob has been called to teach 2nd grade. Please keep them both and their family in your prayers as they deliberate where best to serve God in his kingdom.

No School – January 15

We will not have school on January 15 due to Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

No Bus – January 22

We will not have bus service on January 22 but school is in session. Please make transportation arrangements that day.

Open House – January 24

Salem will be hosting an Open House on January 24th from 9:30 am to 11:30 am. This Open House will focus on Kindergarten and Preschool. The families will get the opportunity to see the teachers teaching their classes. The families will get to meet the teachers and Mr. Klatt after the session of watching the teachers teaching. We will have invitations in church after Christmas break for you to share with anyone you may think would be interested.

Power Up Challenge

Salem students will once again participate in the Health Partners Power Up School Challenge.  They will focus on eating healthy, exercising, and having positive minds.  By learning to eat healthy and exercising more, the students will feel better and be able to focus better in the classroom.

Culver Fundraiser for DC Trip

The school has partnered with Culver’s restaurant in Stillwater and will again host another Salem night on Tuesday, January 23 from 5-7 pm, 10% percent of the proceeds from that time will be donated to the School’s Washington DC trip for 7th and 8th graders. The kids thank you for your support!

The School Board approved a program that gives the incentive to recruit new families for our school. If a family who has children enrolled refers a new family to Salem, they will receive a $200 tuition credit at Christmas per family they have referred. A church family who refers a new family will receive a $200 script gift card also at Christmas per family if they so choose. There is no limit to the number of families you can refer. If you have any more questions about the program, speak to a School Board member or Mr. Klatt.

We Are Also Collecting Aluminum Cans and Pop Tabs

Aluminum cans benefit our athletic program and can be bagged up and placed in the wooden bin next to the garage facing Panama Ave. We will continue to support The Ronald McDonald House by participating in the Pop Tab program. The cash received goes directly to support Ronald McDonald House. They can be dropped off in the bin at the entrance to the school.

One way we forget we can help our school and church is to pray for them throughout the year. Your prayers are always a blessing and it is great to know that you are asking God for his blessings in our school and church year.
