December Salem School Newsletter

Advent Services

The school children will once again be sharing the story of Jesus’ birth on the three Advent Wednesdays and one Thursday evening for preschool. Our theme focuses on the Old Testament promises that point us to Jesus’ birth. Here is a calendar of when the students will be sharing the good news of our Savior’s birth:

December 6th – 5th-8th Grade @ 4:00pm              December 13th – K-1st Grade @ 4:00pm

December 7th – PreK Service @ 6:00pm                December 20th – 2nd – 4th Grade @ 4:00pm

Parents, please contact your child’s teacher for more information on their participation on these dates. You are invited to stay after the services on Wednesdays to enjoy fellowship and a meal in the fellowship hall.

Salem’s Band Christmas Concert

Salem’s students have again been taught this year by St. Croix Lutheran Academy band instructors. This allows them to join the Christmas Band Concert at St. Croix Lutheran on December 19th. If you would like to hear the middle school band play some wonderful Christmas music, make plans to attend the concert at St. Croix Lutheran on December 19th at 6:30 pm. Band students should contact their band instructors for more information.

Mr. Klatt’s Divine Call

Mr. Klatt received a Divine Call to serve as Principal at Wisconsin Lutheran School in Racine, WI. The school has around 165 students from K4-8 and is located in southern WI on Lake Michigan. Please keep Mr. Klatt and his family in your prayers as they deliberate where best to serve God in his kingdom.

Jump Up Day/Crusader for a Day

On December 1st, 8th-grade students will have the opportunity to go to St. Croix Lutheran to experience what high school will be like. On this day, we also have our grade school students and Mrs. Grobe’s students “Jump up” to the next grade level to get to know their teacher for the upcoming school year and get to know the classroom as well. This is a great event and allows the students to enjoy being in the grade above them for a little time during the day.

Christmas Break

Our school will participate in Christmas games with their teams on December 22. Please contact your child’s teacher regarding classroom Christmas parties. Christmas break is December 25, 2023 – January 5, 2024. School resumes on January 8.

A church family who refers a new family will receive a $200 script gift card at Christmas per family if they so choose. There is no limit to the number of families you can refer. We Are Also Collecting Aluminum Cans and Pop Tabs

Aluminum cans benefit our athletic program and can be bagged up and placed in the wooden bin next to the garage facing Panama Ave. We will continue to support The Ronald McDonald House by participating in the Pop Tab program. The cash received goes directly to support Ronald McDonald House. They can be dropped off in the bin at the entrance to the school.

Prayer

One way we usually forget about how we can help our school and church is to pray for them throughout the year. Your prayers are always a blessing and it is great to know that you are asking God for his blessings in our school and church year.
