Preschool registration fees are $100 for the early bird until March 1st, then the fee is $175. Classes are filled on a first-come, first-served basis. You have the choice of which days you would like your child to come. There’s a minimum attendance of 3 half days up to 5 full days.

The k-8 registration fee is $175 before March 1st and $275 after. We ask families that are interested in tuition assistance to please fill out a TADS Financial Aid application. The church has given us $250,000 in grant money to award to our families. You must apply by March 1 to be eligible to receive an award.

Please encourage any families interested in our school to contact either Mr. Klatt (rklatt@salemlutheran.org) for K-8 students or Mrs. Grobe (jgrobe@salemlutheran.org) for preschool students. Families interested in our school are also encouraged to sign up for a tour on our website!

Education Night-Biblical Living History

On March 2nd, Salem will be having its annual Education Night. This night is a time when we focus on one of the subjects we teach at Salem and invite families into the school to projects and activities the students have done. This year the theme is Biblical Living History. The classrooms will have activities, projects, and students dressed up like Bible Characters based on the theme of the classroom. Some themes include the Miracles of Jesus, the 10 Plagues, Judges, and more… Please make plans to attend this awesome event at Salem on March 2nd!

2nd Semester Chapel Offerings

Our second-semester offerings will be going to Truth in Love Ministries. This group works with families in the Mormon religion to hear the good news about our savior. West Lutheran High School will be sending students to help this ministry this coming summer. We will be sending our offerings collected with them, so Truth and Love can use them to continue spreading God’s Word.

Spring Break

Salem’s spring break will be March 20-24. We pray everyone has safe travels if they are heading somewhere during their break.

End of Sports Season

March means the end of the basketball and cheerleading season. The boy’s and girl’s B-teams played well this season, and it was great to see them grow throughout their practices and games. The A-team boys finished a game before making it to the consolation championship in the league tournament. The A-team girls won the league championship this year. Both teams went to MLC and the boys took 7th and the girls took 4th. The cheerleading group also had a great routine and the students enjoyed having them cheer for them throughout the season. Thank you to all of our coaches this season: Janice Nelson, Justin Bicek, Chad Hanson, Luke Dorn, Justin and Nicole Shopbell, Neal Anderson, Griffin Paulsen, Jacob Buller, and Ryan Klatt.

Upcoming Events

Referral Program

The School Board approved a program that gives the incentive to recruit new families for our school. If a family who has children enrolled refers a new family to Salem, they will receive a $200 tuition credit at Christmas per family they have referred. A church family who refers a new family will receive a $200 script gift card also at Christmas per family if they so choose. There is no limit to the number of families you can refer. If you have any more questions about the program, speak to a School Board member or Mr. Klatt.

We Are Also Collecting Aluminum Cans and Pop Tabs

Aluminum cans benefit our athletic program and can be bagged up and placed in the wooden bin that is next to the garage facing Panama Ave. Mrs. Hasselquist and her class support The Ronald McDonald House by participating in the Pop Tab program. She has done this for over 16 years and they have collected over 200 lbs of pop tabs. The cash received goes directly to support Ronald McDonald House. They can be brought to the bin at the entrance to school or to her classroom.

Prayer

One way we usually forget about how we can help our school and church is to pray for them throughout the year. Your prayers are always a blessing and it is great to know that you are asking God for his blessings in our school and church year.
