Students Resume Singing in Church2022-2023 theme

We are happy to have our school children singing in the church services this year. The grades will be singing once a semester with the church choirs and school choir intermixed. We are excited to have so much variety to add to our worship services and to hear the young children using their voices to praise their Lord and Savior.

Parent/Teacher Conferences

October 4, 6, and 10 have been set as the dates that parents can meet with their child’s teacher to review the start of the school year. Please make sure to sign up for a time slot using the following link.  https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C054AAEAC29A0FD0-20222

Clubs Starting in October

Chess club starts October 7 (7:30-8:30 am) and Kamera Kids (7:45-8:30 am) will be starting October 14. Students will learn how to play chess and have opportunities to learn how the pieces move, terminology, and strategy. In Kamera Kids, the students focus on what makes a good picture as well as many other aspects of photography. We are excited to offer these clubs monthly again at Salem.

Caps for Kids

On Wednesday, October 19th, Salem Lutheran School students will participate in Caps for Kids. Caps for Kids is a national nonprofit organization for children with cancer. The organization provides ball caps autographed by the children’s favorite athlete, actor, or singer as a way to help cheer them up and make them feel special. Participants should bring $1.00 to school to donate to Caps for Kids.

WELS Teacher’s Conference

There will be no school Thursday, Oct. 20, and Friday, Oct. 21. Our teachers will attend the WELS Teacher’s conference which is being held at Martin Luther College in New Ulm, MN this year.

Picture Retakes October 27

This is the day to put on your calendar if you did not have a picture taken on Picture Day or you would like a new photo taken. Make sure to send the picture package you would like replaced with your child that day and let the teacher know you would like a retake. If you did not get a picture taken yet make sure your teacher remembers that as well so we do not miss anyone!

Reformation Activities

On October 31st, Salem students will have the opportunity to be in their Saintly Swarms (Mixed-Age Group) for Reformation Activities. These activities will focus on Martin Luther and his work of spreading God’s Word by translating the Bible into the common language of the times. We thank God for Martin Luther, but also for his wonderous plan for continuing the spreading of his word throughout the world.

Referral Program

The School Board approved a program that gives an incentive to recruit new families for our school. If a family who has children enrolled refers a new family to Salem, they will receive a $200 tuition credit at Christmas per family they have referred. A church family who refers a new family will receive a $200 script gift card also at Christmas per family if they so choose. There is no limit to the number of families you can refer. If you have any more questions about the program, speak to a School Board member or Mr. Klatt.

We Are Also Collecting Aluminum Cans and Pop Tabs

Aluminum cans benefit our athletic program and can be bagged up and placed in the wooden bin that is next to the garage facing Panama Ave. Mrs. Hasselquist and her class support The Ronald McDonald House by participating in the Pop Tab program. She has done this for over 16 years and they have collected over 200 lbs of pop tabs. The cash received goes directly to support Ronald McDonald House. They can be brought to the bin at the entrance to the school or to her classroom.

Prayer

One way we usually forget about how we can help our school and church is to pray for them throughout the year. Your prayers are always a blessing and it is great to know that you are asking God for his blessings in our school and church year.
