Food Service Manager — Now Hiring
Salem Lutheran School is looking for a Food Service Manager to lead our Child Nutrition Program and help create a warm, welcoming dining experience for our students, staff, and school family.
As Food Service Manager, you’ll plan nutritious, USDA-compliant menus, oversee food preparation and safety, manage purchasing and inventory, and lead a team with professionalism and Christian care. Every meal you serve becomes part of how we support the health, well-being, and daily life of our students.
What You’ll Do
- Lead daily kitchen operations and supervise staff and volunteers
- Develop monthly menus that meet USDA nutrition standards
- Oversee food production, safety, and sanitation
- Manage purchasing, inventory, and budget
- Maintain compliance with USDA Child Nutrition Program requirements
- Build positive relationships with students, families, staff, and vendors
What We’re Looking For
- High school diploma or equivalent
- ServSafe Food Protection Manager Certification (or willingness to obtain within 90 days)
- Strong leadership, organization, and communication skills
- Ability to lift 50 pounds and work comfortably in a commercial kitchen
- Food service experience is a plus, but not required. We’re happy to train the right person
Schedule & Compensation
- Full-time, school-year position | Monday–Friday, 7:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m.
- $24.00 per hour
- Reduced summer hours (approx. 40 hours total across June–August)
- Off when school is closed for Thanksgiving, Christmas, Spring Break, and other scheduled closures
- 50% tuition discount for eligible dependent children attending Salem Lutheran School
