Welcome to the Salem Lutheran Church iWorship service!
Let us begin this time of reflection and praise with a prayer.
Opening prayer:
Grant me, O Lord, to live this day in gladness and peace, without stain, that reaching the evening victorious over all temptation, I may praise you Lord, for you govern all things and are to be praised now and forever. In Jesus Name. Amen.
Beginning in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
Confession:
Pastor: Our help is in the name of the Lord,
Response: who made heaven and earth.
Pastor: Brother/Sister in Christ, "God is light; in him there is no darkness at all."
Response: "If we claim to have fellowship with Him yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live by the truth." (1 John 1:8-9)
Pastor: "If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us."
Response: "If I confess my sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive me my sins and purify me from all unrighteousness."
Pastor: In truth, you and I have often walked in the darkness of sin. Let us reflect on our wrongdoing, and prepare to confess our sins to our heavenly Father.
Response: Most merciful God, I confess to You that I have not lived as I ought. I have not loved You with my whole heart, and I have not loved my brothers and sisters as myself. I have sinned against You in my thoughts, in my words, in my deeds, and in my lack of service to those who need my help. My life often appears as one lost in the darkness of sin rather than one called into Your glorious light. For the sake of Jesus Christ, I boldly ask for forgiveness. Strengthen me by the power of Your Holy Spirit, that I may live in the light and serve You in all I do. Amen.
Pastor: God is faithful and just. Before we were aware of our need for forgiveness, and out of His great love for us, He sent His Son Jesus to be our Redeemer. As your pastor, at the command and promise of our Lord Jesus Christ, I forgive you all of your sins in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Go, serve the Lord. You are free.
Response: Thanks be to God! Amen.
Service of God's Word
The Apostle's Creed
I believe in God the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilot, was crucified, died and was buried. He descended into hell. The third day he rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of God the Father almighty. From there he will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Christian Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body and the life everlasting. Amen.Sermon Text: (Colossians 3:16) Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God.

The Lord's Prayer
Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name;
Thy kingdom come; Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven;
give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us;
and lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil;
for thine is the kingdom and the power
and the glory forever and ever. Amen.
The Benediction

With believing hearts, receive the benediction of the Lord.
People: Amen, Amen. Amen.
