A call meeting will take place on Sunday 7/13 at 7:00 PM to review two call lists, one of individuals that could both teach and perform Principal duties and the other of individuals who can teach at the fifth through eighth grade levels. This is to address the vacancy created when Mr. Meyer accepted the call to MLC. Also, the treasurer requests authorization from the congregation to borrow money to pay expenses.
There are 2 boxes on the table in the Narthex. One is for prayers for the prayer chain. The other is for prayers for the church service. Place your prayers in the box of your choice.
Remember the power of prayer!
We have decided to have everyone sign up again for a garden area to take care of. We will have the old list, the map, and a new list in the Narthex. If still want your area, sign up again. If you see an area that no one is taking care of, feel free to sign up for that area. We appreciate everyone’s help!
Registrations for the Gun Safety Class beginning August 7, held here at Salem, will begin July 1 and will be taken until July 10 or until the class is full. You can register by contacting Dean Pelnar at 651-735-8923. Classes fill up fast so register soon!
One of our members is currently getting a ride to church on Saturday nights. The ride providers will be out of town for a few Saturdays and are looking for someone to help fill in for them while they are gone. If you regularly attend the Saturday service and would like to help out, contact the church office.
We are always looking for families to greet on Sunday mornings. If you would like to greet, please contact Marlis Dreier at 651-436-4410 – You can also sign up on the greeter calendars on the bulletin board!
The Board of Education is in need of three new members. The openings are for one, two and three-year terms. Any voting member of Salem is eligible. In addition, the term of one of the Education Committee members expires as of July 1. Committee membership is open to any adult member of Salem and is an excellent opportunity for women of our congregation to provide insight and perspective on school matters. Please contact George Light, John Meyer or Pastor Brohn if you have interest in any of these positions.
Guys, sign up now for Salem’s first ever Men’s Retreat, to be held September 19-21, at Beacon Shores Resort north of Brainerd. Listen to faith-building messages from MLC Professor and author Mark Paustian. Mark will speak on his book Prepared to Answer, as well as on the topic of vocation, both timely topics for today’s world. Along with these messages, enjoy a fishing tournament, golf, hiking, biking, or just hanging out by the campfire with fellow Salem Christians.
Registration closes by July 14, or when we reach 30 signups, whichever comes first. You may sign up on the bulletin board in the Narthex or contact Clay Raasch at (651) 344-4918.
Mission Obligations: As we approach the end of our Fiscal Year, we have our WELS Mission obligation & our Lutheran Institutional Ministry obligation to fulfill. To date, we are $8,242.00 short of fulfilling those obligations. Typically, we use funds from our general fund to make up these differences, but, due to our current financial strains, we are asking for members to help us out. The Church Council has authorized door offerings to be collected following each church service for the next 2 weekends to help offset the obligations. Thank you for your donation!
