Call Letter to Members of Salem
Dear Members of Salem:
The apostle Paul wrote, "I thank my God every time I remember you. In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now, being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus" (Philippians 1:3-6).
As I considered this call to serve St. Paul, Wisconsin Rapids, I saw many reasons to thank God for them. He has gifted them in many different ways, from the faithful pastor and teachers who serve among them, to the many laypeople who are serving and leading with their gifts and talents. They have many different ministries that are well-organized and work toward specific goals. The mission they are carrying out is the same as it is here at Salem—we have a wonderful partnership in the gospel.
I also saw many reasons to thank God for the ministry here at Salem. God has richly blessed our congregation during the six years I have been privileged to serve. This call gave me an opportunity to examine my ministry, and see how I have been using my gifts and talents. It was a great joy to hear from so many of you and know that you were thinking about and praying for our family. In my prayers, I asked that the Lord would lead me to see where I can best serve His kingdom.
Trusting His guidance, I have decided to return the call to serve St. Paul congregation and remain at Salem. God has provided us with unique opportunities here in the St. Croix Valley. I am confident that we will continue working together to carry out our Savior's great commission.
As we work together, please know that these words of Paul are also on my heart: "And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless until the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ—to the glory and praise of God" (Philippians 1:9-11).
In Christ's Service,
Pastor Jon Brohn
